These terms of use (“Terms”) are an agreement between you and Katsunori Ogane, who runs NextBuses.Live, and govern your use of the NextBuses.Live website and boards at nextbuses.live (“the service”). By using the service you accept these Terms. If you don’t accept them, please don’t use the service.
NextBuses.Live is run by one person — me, Katsunori Ogane, a UK sole trader. In these Terms, “I”, “me” and “my” mean that person. You can reach me at [email protected]. My postal address and how I handle personal data are set out in the Privacy policy.
NextBuses.Live shows public-transport arrival information on a full-screen board for unattended displays. It is free to use; optional paid plans (Plus and Pro) raise the per-screen limits and add the in-app support form — see Plans for what each plan includes and the prices. The board configuration you choose (your location, stops and display options) is stored in your browser, as described in the Privacy policy.
Arrival times come from third-party public-transport feeds published by the transport authorities and operators. I pass that information through and present it; I don’t produce it and can’t guarantee it.
The information is provided “as is” and “as available”. It may be inaccurate, delayed, incomplete or temporarily unavailable, and live tracking is not available everywhere or at all times — where buses are not being tracked the board shows scheduled (timetable) times. Do not rely on NextBuses.Live where being misinformed could cause you loss or harm — for example catching a last bus, making a connection or a time-critical journey. Always check the operator’s own information as well.
NextBuses.Live is independent. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by Transport for London or any of the other transport authorities or operators whose data it displays.
I aim to keep the service running but give no guarantee of availability. I may add, change, suspend or withdraw any part of the service — including individual regions, features and the free tier — at any time and without notice. If I make a change that materially affects a paid plan you hold, your rights are covered by Polar’s buyer terms and your statutory rights (see Paid plans below).
Please use NextBuses.Live only for its intended purpose — displaying arrivals on screens you control. You agree not to:
A licence activates one screen at a time (see Plans and Support). I may rate-limit, suspend or withdraw access to protect the service or if these Terms are breached.
Paid plans are sold and billed by Polar Software, Inc., which acts as the Merchant of Record (the seller of record). Your purchase is therefore subject to Polar’s buyer terms, which govern payment, taxes, renewals, the free trial and refunds; I don’t re-state them here. What each plan includes, and the prices, are on Plans.
Nothing in these Terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer.
The NextBuses.Live name, the website, the board software and its design are mine, and are protected by intellectual-property law. These Terms let you use the service; they don’t transfer any of those rights to you.
The arrival and timetable data is not mine. It belongs to the transport authorities and operators that publish it, and is used under their open-data licences — including the Open Government Licence, Norway’s NLOD, and Creative Commons CC BY / CC BY-SA, plus operator terms. The required attributions are shown on each board’s footer and on the home page. You may use the data only as those licences allow.
The service depends on third parties — Cloudflare (hosting and delivery), Polar (billing), the transport authorities and operators (data), and CARTO, Esri and geocoding providers (maps and place lookup). Your use of those services is subject to their own terms, and I’m not responsible for them. How your data is handled, by me and by these providers, is described in the Privacy policy.
I provide NextBuses.Live with reasonable care and skill, but to the maximum extent permitted by law I give no other warranties — in particular, I don’t warrant that arrival information is accurate or that the service will be uninterrupted or error-free.
I’m not liable for any loss that results from your reliance on arrival information, from the service being unavailable or containing errors, or for any indirect or consequential loss, or loss of profit, revenue or opportunity.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits my liability for death or personal injury caused by my negligence, for fraud, for breach of your non-excludable statutory rights as a consumer, or for anything else that cannot be excluded or limited under the law that applies to you. Subject to that, where I’m found liable to you in connection with a paid plan, my total liability for all claims is limited to the amount you paid for that plan through Polar in the 12 months before the claim arose.
I handle personal data as described in the Privacy policy.
I may update these Terms from time to time. When I do, I’ll revise the “Last updated” date above, and significant changes will be reflected here. Continuing to use the service after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
These Terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and disputes are subject to the courts of England and Wales. If you are a consumer resident elsewhere, you keep the benefit of any mandatory consumer protections of the country you live in.
